BIOGRAPHY

Piotr Klimek - born in 1973,  composer, lecturer and music producer.

 

     Absolvent of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where was studying composition under Gilius van Bergeijk and Diderik Haakma Wagenaar. MA degree from the Academy of Music in Poznań, where he was studying composition with Grażyna Pstrokońska-Navratil. PhD in composition at the Academy of Music in Poznań. Additional master classes under the guidance of Marek Jasiński and Włodzimierz Kotoński.

 

        Assistant professor at the Szczecin University (since 2003) and The Academy of Art in Szczecin. Guest lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague (2003) and the Zurich University of Arts (2009).  Since 2010 he is a director of the Academic Center of Promotion and Development of the Szczecin Academy of Art. In 2012 was the Deputy Rector of that Academy.

 

      Holder of numerous scholarships, a.o.: Burgemeester van Kolfschotenfonds, the Stefan Batory Foundation, Stiftung Kulturfonds Berlin and Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst. In 2003 he received the Szczecin City Art Award, Amber Ring Award (2007) and the Cross of Merit (2008). Writes symphonic, choral, chamber and electronic music. From 1991 cooperates closely with theatre directors, and since that time he wrote music for over 130 scenic realisations. Klimek creates also sound installations and partakes in creative projects incorporating various kinds of art. Runs an experimental project of music education for hearing impaired.
